Tell Us a Story About a Client Who Had Trouble Losing Weight and How You Helped
Patricia was 40 years old when she came to see me. She started gaining weight around 37 years old. Even with years of knowledge on how to lose weight, Patricia’s dieting came up with opposite results. She went to her primary care provider and had every test the doctor could think of to find out why this was happening. All her blood work came back “normal” including her thyroid function. She was eating a “healthy” diet and religiously exercising. The doctor could not figure out why she was not only losing weight but her weight kept increasing. Patricia’s doctor wrote her a prescription of weight loss pills and wished her luck.
That is when Patricia and I started working together. It was clear that some food habits needed to change. We implemented a morning routine that added in breakfast at an earlier time of the day. She needed to eat more whole foods and add missing nutrients to her diet with supplements. We also worked on her lifestyle and mindset. Finally we added cleansing the toxins out of her body. She just needed education, guidance, and coaching to keep her on track.
The results after working with me for 1 year, were that Patricia was able to release 64 lbs and now enjoys a completely different lifestyle.
Why and When Did You Choose the Holistic Path?
12 years ago was the beginning of my journey in healthy living. I had to learn how to let myself feel, learn what the feelings were and learn how to let them go. I found out about how we are the creators of our life and what we think about we bring about – good or bad. Learning about whole foods and how nutrition plays a huge part in how we feel, how we age, how we lose weight and how we have energy led me to keep on educating myself. I studied everything I could get my hands on from people like Dr. Michael Colgan, John Anderson (nutraceutical expert, known as the mineral man in the science world), Peter Greenlaw (researcher of researchers) and many more.
This past year I wanted to take what I knew and broaden my knowledge on how to coach others more effectively and started my certification process. With so many people feeling defeated by the western medical practices of testing and pills with no real resolutions, health coaches can be a guide for so many people to achieve what they are yearning for. My focus right now is helping people create sustainable results with the help of changing one habit at a time.
What Lessons Have Your Work as a Coach and Personal Experiences Taught You?
In a world where stress is the norm and being on the go is the norm, people are becoming more and more unhealthy. I have learned that every person is different in their bio-makeup. What one person can eat can be poison to another. I have also learned that there is more than nutrition when it comes to living a healthy and happy life. It is what nourishes us off the plate that matters if not more than the food on the plate. Where there is so much contradictory information, people often need a coach who can provide guidance in learning how to feed themselves for their individual bodies and lifestyles. Individuals also need to learn how to trust their intuition. Personal development is a must when learning how to lose weight and sustain the results for a lifetime.
What Would You Like Your Clients to Know About Your Coaching Services that They May Not be Aware of?
Education is important either on a one on one basis or in small groups. Together, we create a completely personalized “road-map to health” that suits each person’s unique body, lifestyle, preferences. There is support along with fun and laughter. I post to my blog on Mondays and Fridays. Fridays are always the affirmation of the week that is followed by my reflection on it and self reflection questions. I am always challenging my followers to go deep inside.
