Complementary Medicine

Complementary Medicine refers to a wide variety of healthcare practices and therapies that are not generally integrated into conventional practice of medical doctors and allied health professionals. It takes a holistic view of illness and wellness that addresses not only the body, but also emotions, mind, and spirit. It is prevention-based, treats the condition, not the symptoms, and is generally non-invasive and non-drug. Complementary practices include Naturopathy, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Homeopathy, Ayurveda, Chiropractic, and Osteopathy. Other modalities include: herbal medicine, nutritional supplementation, massage, movement therapies, energetic therapies, mind-body techniques, and lifestyle practices.
