Functional Orthodontics

The functional orthodontic philosophy is a non-surgical, non-extraction treatment to correct malocclusion, narrow and improperly positioned dental arches or jaw positions, airway obstructions, and skeletal, facial, and muscle imbalances. An early treatment for children, the treatment is done in phases. The first phase addresses treatment of skeletal discrepancies, habits, and obstructions. The second phase addresses tooth alignment. Functional Orthodontics is useful for adults experiencing bruxism, sleep apnea, TMJ disorders, ear pain, stuffiness, and mouth breathing.
