Homeopathy

Even though homeopathic remedies are derived from natural materials, homeopathy is not considered herbal medicine, Chinese medicine, or any other type of natural medicine. It is its own, unique healing system. Developed by a medical doctor, Dr. Samuel Hahnemann in 1796, Homeopathy is a gentle, natural, and holistic system of healing that works with your body to relieve symptoms and improve your overall health. It takes into consideration not only the patient’s symptoms of disease, but also their physical and psychological states. Homeopathic remedies use heavily diluted plant, mineral, and animal substances delivered to the body as a liquid or pill form dissolved under the tongue. The remedies are based on the following principles: 1) The Law of Similars: Homeopaths correct symptoms of ill-health with substances that produce similar symptoms when tested on a healthy person. Also termed ‘Like Cures Like’, it holds that what makes you ell can also cure you. 2) The Minimum Dose: Determining the least amount of preparation needed to effect the needed change. 3) Totality of Symptoms: The ability to match the complete symptom profile of the patient to the symptom profile of the remedy. 4) Single Remedy: Requires the administration of one remedy at a time.
