Trigger Point Therapy is an alternative therapy used to treat pain-related conditions. Approaches can include non-invasive massage techniques, or injections of a local anesthetic into a trigger point (irritable area or knot) in a muscle. Pain relief should be experienced not only in the affected muscle, but in the area of referred pain as well. The procedure can be performed in a practitioner’s office and does not require sedation. After injections, physical therapy or myofascial release helps to stretch and release involved muscles further.
