Biocompatible Dental Materials

If dealing with a compromised immune system, allergies, or autoimmune disease, all dental materials should be tested for compatibility prior to their use in order to insure maximum safety and good health. You cannot assume that your body will handle all material for you. It is important to include dental material testing in your decision-making process. There are three different levels of dental material biocompatibility to consider: 1) General: the toxicity at a cellular level; 2) Immunological: how the individual’s antibodies in the blood react to the material or its by-products; and 3) Bio-energetic: how the material reacts with the body on an energetic level i.e. interferences on meridians associated with the restorative material.
